Introduction
I am a general and gastrointestinal surgeon. I have lived in Spain with my family since 2003. I trained as a general surgeon in Amsterdam and Alkmaar, the Netherlands. After finishing my training as a general suregon I specialized in digestive and laparoscopic surgery. I have special interest in pathology of the pelvic floor, the anus and the rectum (proctology).
Special interests
During my training as a surgeon I gradually realised that the lower part of the digestive tract including the pelvic floor gets insufficient medical attention. Patients are often embarrassed about their problems and delay going to see a doctor even though the complaints that patients have often lead to social inconvenience and sometimes long term disability. It is a rewarding and challenging task to offer multidisciplinary medical help to these patients.
More than just operating
A surgeon does more than just operating. You can make an appointment to discuss your general medical concerns in addition to those listed in the "Our expertise" section. I also conduct 'small' operations under local anaesthetic and carry out diagnostic research of the rectum (proctoscopy and rectoscopy).
